People who land in Pisa and need to get to the Valdarno or Florence often hire a car they don't need. From Pisa Centrale you reach Empoli by train and sleep five minutes' walk from the station: no parking, no car sitting idle for three days.
It works the other way too: if you have an early-morning flight, you can leave from Empoli without relying on a transfer.
